Dandi
About
Dandi is a video social media app designed to inspire grassroots community engagement, at the intersections of philanthropy, youth engagement, and AI.
Youth already know how to use social media – what if we could utilize those existing social patterns to support them with education, resources, and community to address issues in their own communities? We believe that the best way to understand what people need is to ask them directly – so we created an app to do that.
Organizations create challenges around various social issues (mapped to SDGs) – environment, education, health, etc.
College-aged ambassadors teach HCD and entrepreneurship curriculum to high school students around the country
Youth share their solutions through the app via 10-20sec videos
They receive community feedback and validation via gamified approach on the app
Ideas with the most traction as defined by the community win prizes – we connected youth with local organizations to provide in-person resources, support (grants, workshops, certification, etc) and community to make those solutions a reality
